If you already have a Homestead Exemption, you're set. Property Appraiser Dorothy Jacks says you don't need to call or reapply after Amendment 3 passed Nov. 3. Beginning in 2027, the exemption for non-school taxes rises to $150,000.
Don't expect savings yet. The amendment doesn't affect 2026 tax bills, and higher amounts first appear on August 2027 notices, so savings won't arrive until the end of 2027. Tax bills aren't going away, and everyone still pays school taxes.
